January was a quieter month in the gaming hobby for me. While our girls' games were on official hold, Angela and I caught up over games and dinner with my friend Lisa a couple of times. Lisa and her partner were also getting into Catan so I joined them for a game or two of that as well. I'll always do what I can if anybody needs an extra for their games! I held the girls' games meetup, which I've already blogged about, and gamed with a couple of other friends. I also made an appearance at a Wednesday night gaming session or two, but haven't managed to make it along as regularly as I'd like. Games Played in JanuarySequence (x2) Splendor (x2) The Ancient World* Broom Service* Castles of Mad King Ludwig Coloretto Coloretto Amazonas Concordia Escape from Colditz* Family Business Junk Art Love Letter: The Hobbit - The Battle of the Five Armies* No Thanks! Rapidoodle* Sheriff of Nottingham Unexploded Cow *New to me Continuous online plays at BoardGameArena of DragonHeart with a user called CharlieMarley who seems to enjoy it as much as I do. A few of us also learned and played Food Chain Magnate, which we play online due to the prohibitive cost of acquiring a physical copy. Most Enjoyed: Would it be cheating to say Food Chain Magnate, even though it was online? Why? Well, I really like the theme. But also, there is a lot to think about, and it was just so different to anything else I've played that it feels fresh and new. Least Enjoyed: Rapidoodle Why? It didn't feel like that much of a game. There are lot of games that do similar things, but better.
