I got to play a lot of games in November with a few different people. It was a month of card games, since many of my game nights were shorter because I or others were tired. Girls' Game Night Our girls' gaming group is going strong, although I have to be honest and say that as much as I love playing board games, the real highlight is the delicious food these women cook! The games are fun too - we play a lot of silly card games and things can get pretty ridiculous! :D Last week one of us hosted at her lovely boatshed - it was a real treat. Home Gaming I have only hosted one event this month - the Takenoko afternoon tea, and played a couple of games with the family. Other Gaming Dinner and games go together so well. Early in November a friend invited myself and a couple of others for a tasty stirfry and we followed up by playing The Manhattan Project. It was a lovely night, even if I got a grand score of 0. Again. I also got a couple of longer games in with another friend, which was heaps of fun, and made it a couple of times to Mark's large Wednesday-and-sometimes-Saturday group. I hadn't planned to buy any games this month, but stupidly read on a forum about Amazon's Cyber Monday sale, and before I knew it had three games in my basket. They were each down to a fantastic price (including shipping), and they had all been on my wishlist at some point but were unlikely to ever top it. Yes, I did have buyer's remorse! I'm sure I'll be happier when they actually arrive. :) Games I Played in NovemberPirate Fluxx* (x4)
7 Wonders (x2) Lords of Waterdeep (x2) Skip Bo* (x2) Takenoko (x2) Agricola Bohnanza Settlers of Catan Coloretto Coloretto: Amazonas Galaxy Trucker Guillotine Kingsburg Ligretto Love Letter The Manhattan Project Nations* Scythe Sheriff of Nottingham Small World Splendor Sushi Go! *New to me Played Online at BoardGameArena: Takenoko (x7), Coloretto (x2), Carcassonne. Most Enjoyed: Scythe Why? This was my second play of Scythe, so this time I understood what I was doing. The mechanics are straightforward, but the gameplay is immersive and full of decisions and the world is fascinating. Least Enjoyed: Pirate Fluxx Why? I just... *sigh*... don't like Fluxx. I feel like it's just designed to be a pointless activity - not only pointless, but annoying. I enjoy the silly accents - for one round, but they get tired really fast. My girls' game group are Fluxx fans though, so I just play happily and enjoy the company.
